GARDEN CITY, GA – A Georgia man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting a teenage boy during a conflict that spanned several weeks. Jamary Isaiah Brown, 21, received the sentence on Tuesday following his conviction for the murder of 16-year-old Amarion Robinson.
Brown was found guilty in November on multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a felony. The confrontation that led to this tragedy culminated in Robinson being shot 15 times, as noted at the sentencing.
Amarion’s mother, Tina Brant, expressed her dissatisfaction with the sentence. She voiced her belief that Brown should not be eligible for parole, a possibility after 30 years as per Georgia law for life sentences. Brant conveyed her anguish, stating that no sentence could return her son, and faulted Brown for seeking personal justice.
Defense lawyers highlighted Brown’s challenging upbringing without a father and his learning difficulties in an attempt to argue for a lesser sentence. Despite these mitigating factors, the severity of the crime assured his life imprisonment.
The incident on December 6, 2021, at a Garden City apartment complex led to a swift response from law enforcement upon discovering Robinson with multiple gunshot wounds. Though rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators soon identified Brown as the suspect due to a warrant issued four days post-incident, which resulted in his surrender. Prosecutors argued that the shooting was a reactionary move following an altercation involving the victim and Brown’s brother.
Tina Brant still grapples with the loss, sharing on social media how the reality of her son’s death feels surreal even a year later. She described her ongoing struggle to cope with the grief and the void left in their family.
Robinson’s untimely death continues to resonate throughout the community, underscoring the devastating impact of gun violence and the enduring pain for those left behind.
