HOUSTON, TX – A Texas man will spend over half a century in federal prison after a plea deal concluded his involvement in the death of his young daughter and her mother. Jyron Lee, 29, agreed to a 56-year sentence for the murders of his 2-year-old daughter, Nadia Lee, and her mother, Nancy Reed.
The tragic sequence of events began unfolding October 18, 2022, when Houston police discovered Reed’s body at a long-term stay motel, where it was confirmed she had been strangled. This discovery prompted a search for Nadia, who was unaccounted for at the time, and investigators grew concerned about her fate.
Upon examining Lee’s apartment, authorities uncovered a collection of troubling evidence, including bloody garments, sheets, towels, and a bloodstained Minnie Mouse bed with hair stuck to a nearby wall. Despite Lee’s assertion that an unguarded door led to Nadia’s disappearance when he stepped out to empty the trash, inconsistencies quickly arose.
During earlier encounters with police, Lee had suggested to authorities that Nadia was in the care of Reed’s family. However, inquiries with relatives revealed they had last seen Nadia days before Nancy’s murder after Lee departed with her from her grandmother’s residence.
Further examination of Lee’s phone painted a more sinister scenario. Text messages indicated a fraught dynamic with Reed, alongside disturbing internet queries concerning disciplinary actions for children and the decomposition of bodies.
Surveillance footage from the apartment complex last recorded the toddler alive with Lee on October 16, 2022, leading police to suspect that was the day of Nadia’s death.
In December 2022, based on the mounting evidence, authorities charged Lee with the murder of his daughter despite not locating her remains. It wasn’t until March 2023 that Nadia’s body was found submerged in a bayou near Lee’s apartment. Officials have withheld specific details about her death.
Lee’s guilty plea ensures he will face the consequences of these heinous acts, averting a potential capital murder charge, which could have resulted in a life sentence behind bars.
