FORT WORTH, TX – Authorities in Fort Worth are grappling with a chilling case involving a man accused of murdering his mother, allegedly during an exorcism ritual. The incident came to light after a disturbing image surfaced on Snapchat, leading police to a gruesome scene.
Alexander Taylor Valdez, 23, has been charged with the murder of his 58-year-old mother, Teresita Sayson. The Fort Worth Police Department became involved when they received an anonymous call early Friday morning about a troubling photo shared in a Snapchat group. The image reportedly showed a woman on the ground, covered in what appeared to be blood.
Officers were dispatched to Valdez’s residence on Farmers Branch Street following the tip. Upon arrival, police encountered Valdez, who appeared to have blood on his clothing. Authorities noted that he was holding a book resembling a Bible and reportedly stated, “It was an exorcism,” before calmly taking a seat on the porch.
When questioned about his appearance, Valdez allegedly claimed responsibility, stating, “I was doing witchcraft to kill my mom.” He further informed officers of a deceased body inside, later confirmed to be his mother.
A subsequent search of the home unveiled Sayson’s lifeless body, displaying visible trauma, on the master bedroom floor. Additionally, a deceased dog was found in the same room.
Investigators identified a broken jewelry box covered in blood and hair as a possible murder weapon. The grim circumstances painted a dark picture corroborated by testimonies from Valdez’s friends. They recounted being part of the Snapchat group where Valdez had reportedly shared the unsettling image of his mother.
Valdez was promptly taken into custody but chose to exercise his right to remain silent, requesting legal representation. He is currently detained at Tarrant County Jail with bail set at $750,000.
