Amritsar, India — A businessman was fatally shot in his shop on May 3, prompting a swift police response that led to the arrest of the suspected shooter. The victim, Jaswant Singh Bittu, an ex-serviceman, was targeted while going about his daily business in Dubli village, located within the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station.
Witnesses reported that the assailant fled the scene on a motorcycle shortly after the shooting, drawing immediate attention from law enforcement. Senior Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Rana confirmed that the suspect, identified as Taranbeer Singh, also known as Tannun, was apprehended following a brief investigation. Singh, a resident of Bhikhiwind, had been living in the Mohkampur area of Amritsar prior to the incident.
During the police operation, authorities recovered two illegal firearms as well as the motorcycle used in the crime and the clothing worn by the shooter at the time of the attack. These crucial pieces of evidence are expected to play a significant role in the ongoing investigation.
