PHILADELPHIA, PA – One person has been taken into custody in connection with the mass shooting in Kensington that resulted in nine people being wounded.
The shooting occurred on November 5, 2022, around 10:42 p.m. near the intersection of Kensington and Allegheny avenues. According to police, multiple shooters exited a black vehicle and fired at least 40 rounds, injuring nine individuals between the ages of 23 to 40 years old. Five of the victims were in stable condition, while four others were in critical condition.
The victims were patrons of several businesses on the 800 block of E. Allegheny Avenue. When the shooting started, they sought refuge inside a bar after realizing they had been shot, as per the police.
Philadelphia police have arrested 25-year-old Michael Smith-Davis and charged him with Attempted Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, and other related offenses in connection with the shooting. Additionally, an arrest warrant has been issued for a second suspect, a juvenile who is currently in custody on an unrelated charge.
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is expected to provide further details on the case, holding a news conference on Friday morning.
