SOUTHINGTON, Conn. – In a major breakthrough, the police have arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that took place in Southington last April. Brian Seholm, 25, was apprehended in Torrington and stands charged with one count of murder in the death of 55-year-old Dominick Francischelli.
The investigation began when officers responded to a residence on Douglas St. after receiving a 911 call about an unresponsive man. Tragically, Francischelli, a longtime Southington resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Francischelli’s cause of death was compression to his neck, ruling it a homicide following an autopsy.
Police identified Seholm and Francischelli as associates, and believe that Seholm was with Francischelli on the evening of his death. According to an obituary, Francischelli, also known as Nicky, was remembered as a kind-hearted, generous individual with a love for gardening and cooking.
Seholm is currently being held on a $2 million bond and is expected to be arraigned in New Britain Superior Court. This arrest marks a significant development in the case and offers hope of closure for the victim’s family and the Southington community.
