PITTSBURGH, PA – A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting death of a man in Pittsburgh’s South Side Slopes neighborhood. Jaeyln Nowlin has been charged with the murder of Grant Gibeault, who was found dead on December 30th after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in an apartment on Arlington Avenue. Nowlin is facing charges of criminal homicide and robbery, according to court documents.
The affidavit alleges that Nowlin had previously sold marijuana to Gibeault and, during a visit to his home, noticed items she desired, including a PS4 gaming console. The document further claims that police identified Nowlin as a suspect through text messages, cash app transactions, and fingerprints left on evidence in Gibeault’s home. Nowlin was brought in for questioning after being arrested by Mount Oliver police on an unrelated crime.
According to the criminal complaint, Nowlin initiated a meeting with Gibeault through a false identity on a dating app, believing he would be an easy target for robbery. After receiving $700 through Cash App from Gibeault for a sexual transaction, Nowlin left his home but returned when the transaction was cancelled. She claims that upon returning to the apartment, a physical confrontation ensued, which led to her shooting Gibeault.
Nowlin has been denied bond and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting a preliminary hearing.
