NAIROBI, KENYA – The gruesome murder of Pastor Victor Kanyari’s younger sister, Starlet Wahu, has left Kenyans in shock. Wahu was allegedly killed by a man identified as John Matara, whose details have now surfaced online following the circulating reports of the incident.
Wahu’s body was discovered in an AirBnB in Nairobi’s South B, with witnesses reporting a male suspect fleeing the scene with bloodstained clothes. The owner of the premises found the house locked from the outside and, upon using a spare key to unlock it, stumbled upon the horrifying scene of Wahu’s body sprawled on the floor.
The examination of the body revealed multiple injuries, including a stab wound on the head near the left ear, a deep cut on the right thigh, and a human bite on the left arm. Police also discovered broken glasses, splattered blood, and various items at the scene, including HIV testing kits, a used condom, bhang, a bottle of alcohol, and a blood-stained kitchen knife, believed to be the murder weapon.
Following the investigation, Matara was arrested and taken into custody as the main suspect in Wahu’s murder. He appeared in court and is being held for further probe amidst speculations of him being a serial killer and an extortionist, with three other victims reporting statements to the police. The motive of the murder is still under investigation, and police believe Matara may have inflicted wounds on himself to mislead investigators.
Matara’s alleged involvement in the murder has prompted a closer examination of his past, including his former identity as a reggae artiste and a history of assaulting and extorting money from female victims. As the details of this tragic event continue to unfold, the Kenyan community remains in shock and demands justice for the brutal murder of Starlet Wahu.
