Cincinnati Court Sets High Bond for Suspect in Viral Assault Case as Details of Brutal Attack Emerge

Cincinnati, Ohio – Authorities in Cincinnati have set a $500,000 bond for Patrick Rosemond, 38, in connection with a violent attack that left a woman unconscious. A Hamilton County judge ruled on Friday, following Rosemond’s extradition from Fulton County, Georgia, where he had been apprehended prior to his court appearance.

Rosemond is accused of delivering a devastating punch to a woman identified as Holly during a chaotic altercation on July 26, which was captured on video and went viral, drawing global attention. Prosecutors described the incident as brutal, citing that Rosemond’s actions put Holly’s life at risk and that he assaulted multiple victims in a vicious manner.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Rosemond engaging with bystanders and demonstrating erratic behavior following the attack, further raising concerns about his character. The prosecution emphasized his prior criminal history, which includes numerous misdemeanors and felonies, arguing that he poses a significant flight risk given his recent attempt to leave the jurisdiction for Atlanta.

While Rosemond’s defense claimed his travel was prearranged and not an attempt to evade authorities, the judge ultimately sided with the prosecution, enforcing the steep bond. Should he secure his release, he will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device.

Initially, police charged Rosemond with two counts of felonious assault and aggravated riot, but a Hamilton County grand jury has since indicted him on additional charges, including multiple counts of felonious assault and assault, as well as charges of aggravated riot. Conviction on all counts could result in nearly 30 years of incarceration for Rosemond.

The situation also involves several co-defendants who have been indicted alongside Rosemond. Those suspects include 26-year-old Aisha Devaughn and 39-year-old Jermaine Matthews, among others. Together, they are facing similar charges related to the incident. Each of these suspects could also be looking at significant prison time if convicted.

Compounding the seriousness of the case, a seventh suspect, Gregory Wright, was arrested earlier this week for his alleged role in the attack, facing charges of aggravated riot and robbery. Authorities allege that he attempted to steal jewelry from a victim during the melee and recorded the assault on his phone.

In a court hearing on Thursday, prosecutors revealed disturbing details about the incident, countering defense claims that minimized the violence witnessed in the viral footage. They outlined how the victims were subjected to extreme physical harm, emphasizing the brutal nature of the attack that could potentially lead to homicide charges if it had resulted in fatalities.

As the legal proceedings unfold, community members and advocates are calling for justice for the victims, highlighting the need for accountability in violent crime.
