WASHINGTON – A man in D.C. is facing murder charges in connection to a fatal car crash that left a 19-year-old woman dead. Andre Johnson, 30, was arrested on Thursday and charged with second-degree murder while armed by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The crash occurred on June 8, 2023, at the intersection of 11th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. A 2005 Ford Focus traveling north on 11th Street was struck by a 2017 Mercedes C300 running through a red light on Pennsylvania Avenue. The collision caused the Ford Focus to be hit on the driver’s side, resulting in the ejection of 19-year-old Madison Jones, who was riding in the backseat.
DC Fire and EMS found Jones dead at the scene, while the other two occupants of the Ford suffered minor injuries and were later released from the hospital. Following the crash, Johnson fled the scene and was arrested more than six months later by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
