DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A tragic incident unfolded Sunday afternoon, resulting in the death of one individual and the arrest of another following a reported shooting. Just after 3 p.m., emergency responders rushed to Deerfield Township Fire Station 57 to address a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, first responders attempted life-saving measures; however, they found that the victim had succumbed to injuries at the scene. Authorities have not released the name of the deceased as they work to notify family members.
In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement officials identified and detained a person of interest present at the shooting location. Following a series of interviews conducted by detectives, 77-year-old Gerald Olin Finley was charged with felonious assault and murder. He has since been booked into the Warren County Jail.
