Surrey, British Columbia – More than a year after the tragic murder of her 21-year-old daughter, a mother in Surrey, B.C. is making a heartfelt plea for information in the case. Aisha Harouya was found dead in a parking lot in July 2022, leaving her mother, Ashni Ram, devastated and seeking answers.
In a video released by the RCMP, Ram tearfully expressed her disbelief and sorrow, questioning why anyone would want to harm her daughter. Describing Harouya as a fashion and makeup enthusiast with dreams of pursuing a career in beauty and moving to Los Angeles, Ram shared her daughter’s bright and loving personality with the public.
Ram also revealed that she and her daughter had been planning a trip to Paris before Harouya’s untimely death. She emphasized her daughter’s compassionate nature and expressed the pain of losing her only daughter, stating that her “whole world just came shattering down” the day she learned of the killing.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has uncovered that Harouya was last seen alive on July 24, 2022, in the area of 100th Avenue and Whalley Boulevard. Investigators are now urging anyone with information about Harouya’s whereabouts between July 23 and 24 to come forward.
Ram implored individuals with knowledge about the case to “do the right thing” not only for her daughter but also “for other young women to end violence against women.” She expressed hope that uncovering the truth about what happened to Harouya would provide closure and peace for her family.
