Discovery: Four Family Members Found Dead in Possible Murder-Suicide at Madbury Home, Toddler Survives

Madbury, N.H. — Authorities have identified four family members, including two young children, found deceased in their home late Monday evening. The tragic discovery occurred on Moharimet Drive, where emergency responders were called around 8:21 p.m.

The victims have been named as 34-year-old Emily Long, 48-year-old Ryan Long, their son Parker, aged 8, and their 6-year-old daughter Ryan. A toddler, who was also in the residence, was unharmed and is now with relatives, officials reported.

Initial investigations indicate that all four deceased individuals sustained gunshot wounds. When responders arrived, they confirmed that each was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are treating the incident as a potential murder-suicide, although the motives remain unclear.

Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati emphasized the complexities surrounding the incident, noting that investigators still have more questions than answers. “One of the main challenges is understanding the motive,” he said. “Determining how these events unfolded inside the home is crucial for our inquiry.”

Police presence at the scene was significant, with multiple cruisers spotted outside the residence as investigators gathered information. Officers made contact with the individuals who placed 911 calls, though their exact relationship to the family has not been disclosed.

As the investigation continues, autopsies for the deceased family members are scheduled for Wednesday. In the meantime, law enforcement reassured the community that there is no known threat to public safety.

The small town of Madbury is situated just north of the University of New Hampshire and approximately 15 miles from Portsmouth, making this incident particularly shocking for the close-knit community. Detectives are committed to piecing together the events leading to this heartbreaking situation as they continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
