MANCHESTER, New Hampshire – Adam Montgomery, the New Hampshire father accused of orchestrating a heinous plot to hide his daughter’s murder, is facing intense scrutiny from prosecutors. They allege that he bought chemicals and power tools that could have been used to dismember and hide her body. The defense is fighting to prevent the prosecution from presenting evidence of Montgomery’s purchases, including 80 pounds of lime, a diamond-edged blade, and a power grinder from Home Depot, just a week before he is accused of disposing of her remains.
Harmony Montgomery was reported missing two years after she was last seen. The young girl’s father allegedly kept her remains in a cooler and duffle bag, transporting them between various temporary housing locations before finally dumping her.
According to investigators, the family was homeless and living in a car at the time of Harmony’s suspected murder. The case has taken a dark turn with details emerging of Montgomery’s alleged plan to conceal and dispose of his daughter’s corpse.
Prosecutors argue that the purchases from Home Depot are key circumstantial evidence connecting Montgomery to the disposal of his daughter’s remains, and they have opposed the defense’s attempts to suppress this evidence. His estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, told police that her husband believed the lime would help Harmony’s body decompose without being discovered.
Montgomery has been in custody since the beginning of 2021 after his estranged ex-wife reported Harmony missing. In January of last year, he was indicted on second-degree murder charges. His wife is also facing charges in connection with the girl’s disappearance, including allegedly lying to a grand jury and collecting welfare payments on the missing girl’s behalf for months after her death.
The trial is set to begin on February 7. This tragic case has shocked the community, and the quest for justice for Harmony Montgomery continues as her remains have not been found.
