Dog Attack in Lauderdale Lakes Results in Euthanasia of Two Animals Following Violent Incident

Lauderdale Lakes, Florida – A violent incident involving two dogs on Tuesday resulted in injuries to a man and prompted a Broward County deputy to discharge his weapon, according to local animal care authorities. The attack took place around 11:30 a.m. in the 3900 block of Northwest 35th Avenue, where responding law enforcement encountered a severely injured adult male.

Witnesses reported that the dogs not only attacked the victim but also attempted to reach the deputy as he arrived on the scene. The deputy managed to shoot one of the dogs, causing a graze wound to its midsection. Animal control services and Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue were dispatched after receiving reports of an animal-related bite incident.

Upon arrival, first responders found the victim suffering from multiple lacerations and injuries inflicted by the dogs. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for critical care, but as of now, no updates on his condition have been provided.

Fortunately, the deputy involved in the incident was unharmed during the confrontation. In a subsequent action, the owner decided to relinquish the two dogs involved in the attack, along with a third dog, to Broward County Animal Care. Officials confirmed that the two dogs responsible for the injuries will be euthanized due to the severity of the man’s wounds.

Investigators from the sheriff’s Internal Affairs Unit have been assigned to examine the shooting incident further. Their inquiry is ongoing as they seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and the subsequent actions taken by law enforcement.

Animal control emphasizes that such incidents highlight the need for responsible pet ownership, urging dog owners to be vigilant in managing their pets to prevent future attacks.
