Domestic Incident in Lincoln Leaves Two Dead and Child Injured; Police Investigate

Lincoln, Nebraska – In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, a domestic dispute ended fatally when a man shot his girlfriend and then himself at a residence near 22nd and ‘G’ Street. Authorities identified the couple as 44-year-old Pah To and 40-year-old Bu Gay.

According to the Lincoln Police Department, the violent altercation not only claimed the lives of To and Gay but also left Gay’s 13-year-old son severely injured. The teen, demonstrating remarkable composure, managed to contact emergency services and report the incident despite his injuries. He is currently receiving medical treatment in an Omaha hospital and is expected to survive, though his road to recovery will be extensive.

At the time of the shootings, three children were present in the home. Alongside the injured boy, a 15-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were at the scene but were unharmed. Police revealed that Gay was the mother of the two older children, and To was the father of the youngest child. All members of the household shared the apartment where the tragedy unfolded.

“This has been a heart-wrenching event, especially given the involvement of children,” stated Erika Thomas, a police spokeswoman. She added that they are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the motivations behind the incident and the series of events leading up to it.

The community has been rocked by this shocking outbreak of violence in what otherwise is a quiet neighborhood. Domestic violence experts emphasize that such incidents represent a critical reminder of the hidden struggles many families face and the importance of accessible support services.

“It’s absolutely pivotal that incidents like these spur us to action, not only in addressing the present issue but also in proactively managing domestic conflict before it escalates to violence,” pointed out a local counselor specializing in domestic abuse.

Authorities are coordinating with community leaders and support groups to provide counseling and assistance to the surviving family members and others affected by the incident.

“The ripple effect of such tragedies is profound, affecting neighbors, friends, and the entire community,” a police official noted. “We are committed to supporting everyone impacted as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.”

As the investigation continues, local police and community support advocates are urging anyone experiencing or aware of domestic violence to seek help immediately through local resources and hotlines available in the area. The focus remains on healing and preventive measures to avert future incidents of this nature.
