Employee Killed in Shooting at Rivermaid Trading Company, Suspect Arrested for Murder

LODI, Calif. – A Lodi man was taken into custody Tuesday night on suspicion of murder following a fatal shooting at the Rivermaid Trading Company. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Jorge Bejar, was an employee at the company and succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the motive behind the tragic incident.

Authorities from the Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting took place around 10 p.m. on Monday at the Rivermaid Trading Company located on E Pine Street in Lodi. Following their arrival, deputies discovered Bejar with severe gunshot wounds, leading to his untimely death. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Gabriel Hernandez, was apprehended by law enforcement in connection with the crime.

In a swift response, the Manteca Police Department located the suspect’s vehicle late Tuesday night and initiated a pursuit. The suspect attempted to flee but was ultimately captured with the assistance of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office helicopter. Hernandez was taken into custody and faces charges of murder along with two gun-related offenses in relation to the shooting at Rivermaid Trading Company.
