FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — In a tragic incident that unfolded earlier this week at a high-rise luxury condominium in Hallandale Beach, a man and a woman were found deceased in what police have described as a murder-suicide. The victims, identified as Pajtim Kasniqi, 34, and Sabrina Kasniqi, 27, were Kosovar Albanian nationals as reported by various foreign media sources.
The Hallandale Beach Police responded to an alert from ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system, around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, indicating multiple gunshots at 1800 S. Ocean Dr. Upon arriving at the luxury condominium located at 1830 S. Ocean Dr., officers discovered the couple on a balcony, both having sustained gunshot wounds.
Investigative teams were observed entering and exiting the unit, which is situated on one of the upper floors of the high-rise, part of a three-building complex. Initial reports came from a 911 caller who reported hearing several gunshots and witnessing two individuals in distress on the balcony.
Authorities established through their preliminary investigation that Sabrina Kasniqi had shot her husband, Pajtim, multiple times before she turned the gun on herself. The apartment where they were found was the residence they shared.
Further details regarding the circumstances that led to the shooting have not been disclosed as of now. The investigation is ongoing, and the local police have not released additional information as they continue to piece together the events that led to this calamitous incident.
The couple’s death has left their families and the local community reeling from shock. Albana Krasniqi Munrett, Pajtim Kasniqi’s older sister, expressed her profound grief and disbelief over the incident on social media. She lamented the betrayal by Sabrina, who was not only Pajtim’s wife but the person he trusted most. Munrett shared how the incident devastated her family, fearing that her mother may never recover from the loss.
In a statement, the Hallandale Beach Police Department conveyed their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the Kasniqis, emphasizing the heartbreak felt by those affected by the tragedy.
This incident has drawn attention to the issues surrounding domestic violence and mental health, highlighting the urgent need for accessible resources and support for those in crisis. Community leaders and advocates have called for increased awareness and preventive measures to help avert such tragedies in the future.
