Kherson, Ukraine — Intensifying attacks by Russian forces have led to civilian casualties and extensive damage across several regions of Ukraine, according to local authorities. Strikes were reported in areas including Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv, with military operations involving drones, artillery, and missiles targeting residential neighborhoods and essential infrastructure.
The Kherson region appears particularly affected, with more than a dozen settlements struck by Russian shelling over the past 24 hours. Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson regional military administration, reported that critical social infrastructure and housing sustained significant damage. At least eight apartment buildings and multiple private homes were impacted. Prokudin confirmed the deaths of two individuals and injuries to two others, urging residents wishing to evacuate to seek assistance through regional hotlines.
In nearby Zaporizhzhia, the scope of assaults spiked dramatically, with regional governor Ivan Fedorov noting that Russian forces executed 569 strikes on 25 settlements within a single day. Among the casualties, a 51-year-old woman was injured. Authorities highlighted the relentless nature of the bombardments, with shelling continuing into Sunday morning and numerous reports of property damage flooding in from affected areas.
The Donetsk region reported further tragedies, where one civilian was killed in Sloviansk and another injured in separate incidents. Regional governor Vadym Filashkin condemned the ongoing violence, emphasizing that the casualty statistics do not reflect the impacted areas under occupation. The State Emergency Service confirmed a significant drone attack in Kramatorsk, igniting fires in residential buildings and causing additional structural damage.
To the north, the Kharkiv region faced drone assaults that ignited multiple fires, injuring at least three individuals. Local officials reported the recovery of a body from a building previously targeted by Russian missiles, increasing the confirmed fatalities to four from that incident as search and rescue efforts continued.
The intensity of hostilities has also been felt in Sumy, where shelling led to the death of a 52-year-old man due to a drone strike. Over the previous day, Russian forces conducted approximately 60 attacks across Sumy, predominantly affecting communities closer to the border. Emergency services have been actively involved in evacuation endeavors amid ongoing warnings about air raids, which lasted over 11 hours in the region.
In the Chernihiv area, military operations saw 44 instances of shelling that damaged various civilian infrastructures. The regional administration reported damage predominantly in border districts, with drones targeting vehicles and agricultural enterprises but thankfully causing no casualties in some instances.
