Harvey, Louisiana — A tragic incident unfolded Saturday morning when a 68-year-old woman was fatally shot while attempting to intervene in a dispute involving her husband and son. The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Robbie Walker.
Authorities reported that the shooting occurred in the 2200 block of Deerlick Lane, marking the culmination of an escalating argument between Robbie Walker and her husband, Zed Walker Jr., 66. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office stated that Zed was the individual who fired the fatal shot.
Witnesses indicated that prior to the confrontation, Robbie Walker’s 36-year-old son, who is also Zed’s stepson, had come to their home in an attempt to mediate the dispute. However, tensions escalated, resulting in Zed directing his aggression toward his stepson. Reports suggest that Zed then armed himself and allegedly attempted to shoot his stepson. In a bid to protect her child, Robbie Walker intervened, placing herself in the line of fire.
Robbie sustained a serious injury to her upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, her son remained unharmed during the ordeal. Zed Walker Jr. was subsequently taken into custody and is facing serious charges, including manslaughter and attempted second-degree murder. He remains at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, where he is being held on a bond set at $500,000.
