Fatal Houston Robbery Leads to Arrest of 17-Year-Old Suspect

HOUSTON, Texas — A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged in connection to a fatal shooting and robbery that took place in the early hours of Dec. 1, 2023, at 4200 Sherwood Lane. Jaydon Williams, a resident of Houston, Texas, is facing charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. The shooting resulted in the death of 15-year-old Joseph Barrios and left another 17-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds.

Upon responding to the shooting, Houston Police Department (HPD) officers found Barrios unresponsive at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene. The second victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was privately transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Investigations revealed that Williams and Barrios had planned to rob two males, aged 15 and 17, at the location. The 17-year-old victim retaliated, firing shots at Barrios, who also returned fire. Williams managed to escape the scene on foot, leaving no other injuries.

After consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Williams was charged on Jan. 2 for his involvement in the incident. He was arrested on Jan. 10 by the HPD Gang Division’s Crime Reduction Unit and is currently held at the Harris County Jail.
