Florida man shot by son-in-law who concocts a story about how a drug dealer did it

INVERNESS, FL – A Florida man has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder after authorities linked him to the death of his father-in-law, a crime that police say took place days before the body was discovered.

David Nemyier, 43, was arrested on April 13, accused of fatally shooting 67-year-old Kyle Pazian. Prosecutors announced the formal charge by a grand jury on Wednesday. The incident began to unfold on April 9, following an argument between Pazian and his daughter, Nemyier’s wife, setting a tragic chain of events into motion.

Court documents reveal that Nemyier initially claimed that he and his wife went to check on Pazian on April 11, unable to reach him by phone. Upon arrival, they purportedly found him dead on the couch, bloodied and unresponsive. At that time, Nemyier and his family had been residing with Pazian.

Both Nemyier and his wife faced scrutiny as inconsistencies arose in their accounts of the morning’s events. Nemyier suggested that Pazian had conflicts with a drug dealer named “Mike,” but investigators found the narrative dubious. Moreover, Nemyier’s wife had conflicting recollections, initially describing a fight with her husband and waking to a mysterious injury.

Evidence against Nemyier escalated after the medical examiner’s autopsy indicated that Pazian had been deceased since April 9, two days prior to being “discovered.” The cause of death was identified as a homicide via gunshot.

Surveillance footage from the restaurant where Nemyier worked added to the suspicions. He was observed changing his shirt in a parking lot on the morning of the shooting. A colleague later found a bullet near where Nemyier was recorded.

On April 13, a turning point occurred when Nemyier’s wife urgently contacted authorities, seeking to disclose the truth about what transpired. Initially reticent, she claimed to be heavily intoxicated during an altercation with her father and recounted Nemyier’s promise to protect her from harm.

Her account continued, alleging that Nemyier took her back to confront Pazian. Nemyier later told her that Pazian was dead. She further admitted to withholding information out of fear, citing a history of domestic violence and Nemyier’s erratic behavior on April 9.

Police later apprehended Nemyier at a hotel and charged him with premeditated murder. Following the indictment, he remains in custody without bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.
