Melbourne, Australia — Orpheus Pledger, formerly known for his role on the popular television show “Home and Away,” has confessed to a violent attack on a woman in Melbourne earlier this year. Pledger, 31, attended his court hearing via video link from custody after a breach of bail conditions in April.
The distressing incident occurred on March 25 when the victim, who remains unnamed for legal reasons, reached out to emergency services, fearing Pledger was experiencing a mental health crisis. The communication was abruptly cut short as she alerted the operator of Pledger’s approach, prompting immediate police intervention.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found the woman incapacitated on the ground, displaying visible injuries including bruising, lacerations, and indications of strangulation, as detailed in the hearing. She required an overnight hospital stay to address her injuries and undergo observations.
Following his initial arrest, Pledger was released on bail with the stipulation that he receive a mental health evaluation at Royal Melbourne and was later rearrested after he departed the hospital, having waited nearly a full day for assessment. This prompted officials to issue an arrest warrant.
