Georgia woman walks into Dollar General covered in blood and says she stabbed a man to death

DALTON, GA – Authorities in Whitfield County say a local woman is facing murder charges after she was found late Wednesday night inside a Dollar General, covered in blood, less than a mile from the scene of a fatal stabbing.

Deputies responded shortly after 11 p.m. to a 911 call reporting a woman in distress at the Dollar General on Beaverdale Road, just north of Dalton. Investigators later identified the woman as 33-year-old Requiya Reynolds. According to law enforcement, Reynolds informed first responders that she had just attacked a man inside a nearby home.

Authorities immediately dispatched personnel to a residence in the 2000 block of Dawnville Beaverdale Road, where they found 59-year-old Michael Cronan dead on the living room floor. Investigators say Cronan had suffered multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, joined by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, began an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the killing. Reynolds was taken into custody without incident at the Dollar General and transported to the sheriff’s office for questioning.

Reynolds is currently being held in the Whitfield County Jail, charged with murder. She has not been granted bond, according to jail records. Authorities have not disclosed a motive or the nature of Reynolds’ relationship to Cronan.

News of Cronan’s death has shaken his family and those who knew him. Relatives have described Cronan as a devoted family man, emphasizing his kindness and loyalty. According to his obituary, Cronan enjoyed spending time with loved ones and was known for making friends easily.

Friends and family have taken to social media to share their grief and memories, highlighting Cronan’s warmth and his impact on the people in his life. He is survived by his children, extended family, and a wide circle of friends.

The sudden and violent nature of the crime has left the close-knit community searching for answers. Neighbors and residents say incidents like this are highly unusual for the area, which is known for its quiet neighborhoods.

Investigators have not commented on whether Reynolds has legal representation or when her next court appearance will be. The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with state authorities as the investigation remains open.
