It’s alleged that Baires Martinez had a brief interaction with the woman before he and two friends attempted to follow Taylor’s car after he left.
Officials detailed that as Baires Martinez and his acquaintances drove, they noticed Taylor and his companion parked along B Street. In what turned into a fatal confrontation, Taylor reportedly opened fire on their vehicle, striking Baires Martinez, but sparing his friends from physical harm.
The arrest of Taylor took place just 15 hours after the shooting, following his apprehension for jumping a fare gate at a local BART station. He was found in possession of an unserialized pistol, which authorities later linked to the shooting.
