HIGH POINT, N.C. – A High Point man arrested for assault now faces murder charges, as reported by the High Point Police Department.
According to a news release, officers responded to an assault in the 2700 block of Triangle Lake Road on Oct. 7, 2023, around 6 p.m. They found Viet Dinh, 53, unconscious and seriously injured. Dinh was taken to the hospital by Guilford County EMS.
Antwaun D. Morgan-Chrisman, 35, of High Point, was arrested and charged with felony assault inflicting serious injury. He was then taken to the Guilford County Jail in High Point, with a $100,000 secured bond.
Tragically, Dinh succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 18, 2023, after weeks in the hospital. Preliminary autopsy results confirmed his death as a homicide.
Following this determination, officers obtained a first-degree murder warrant for Morgan-Chrisman. The U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested him on Friday.
