Highway Horror: Tech Worker and Bikers Attacked by SUV Drivers in Road Rage Incident Near Dwarka Expressway

Gurgaon, India — An early morning ride turned violent for a group of motorcyclists on Monday, as they faced an aggressive attack near the Kherki Daula toll plaza by the occupants of an SUV, culminating in injuries and damage to property. The confrontation began around 7:30 a.m. when a black Scorpio reportedly became agitated after being overtaken by one of the 11 bikers journeying from Ambience Mall towards Manesar.

The dispute escalated rapidly after a brief pursuit concluded on the Dwarka Expressway, where the angry SUV passengers accosted the bikers, leading to a physical altercation. According to Hardik Sharma, a 27-year-old software developer from Hisar and a victim in the incident, the group had stopped to evade further conflict only to be met with hostility. Sharma recounted how the assailants attempted to remove the bikers’ helmets and commenced physically assaulting them.

Significantly, one of the bikers managed to capture the entire episode on a GoPro camera mounted on his motorcycle. The footage revealed the aggressive demeanor of two of the assailants, noticeably described by their distinct clothing—a pair in yellow shorts and another in a red sleeveless vest. The camera also recorded the offenders verbally confronting the bikers, photographing their license plates, and evidently escalating the confrontation to physical blows.

In a desperate attempt to diffuse the tension, Sharma and his fellow bikers tried to flee the scene. He detailed a harrowing moment when he returned to aid a friend, only to be attacked himself with a baseball bat. Fortunately, he was wearing his helmet which absorbed the brunt of the blow, sparing him from a potentially severe head injury.

Amidst the chaos, several bikers sustained injuries and Sharma’s motorcycle, a Kawasaki Z900 worth approximately 8 to 9 lakh rupees, was severely damaged. The assailants, who also purportedly brandished knives and threatened the motorcyclists’ lives, fled the scene shortly after the incident.

Following the attack, the group sought assistance from the nearest police station. However, Sharma alleged a significant delay in police response, attributing it to confusion over jurisdictional responsibilities that prolonged the filing of their complaint.

Ultimately, an FIR was registered at the Sector 37 police station under multiple charges including criminal intimidation, assault with deadly weapons, and rash driving, among others. In response to allegations of delay, police officials stated that an investigation was immediately launched upon receiving the complaint, leading to the identification of the suspects involved in the attack. They assured that efforts were underway to apprehend the accused swiftly.

The local authorities employed advanced technology including the use of the GoPro footage and a facial recognition app to track down the suspects through social media profiles. They expressed commitment to resolving the incident and holding the responsible parties accountable as part of their ongoing investigation.

This episode underlines the increasing incidents of road rage and challenges in prompt law enforcement response in rapidly urbanizing areas, highlighting the need for systemic changes to ensure public safety and swift justice.
