NEW YORK (AP) – The grisly murder of a Bronx family on Sunday has left the community in shock and mourning. The victims, 38-year-old Jonathan Rivera, 33-year-old Hanoi Peralta, and 5-year-old Kayden Rivera, were found dead inside an apartment building in the Bronx on November 26th. The scene was described as horrific, resembling something out of a horror movie.
According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, police have identified a person of interest in the case and believe that a loved one committed the heinous crime. The details surrounding the murders are gruesome, with multiple stab wounds and evidence suggesting a depraved act of violence.
One day prior to the murders, the victims were spotted in Lower Manhattan, but tragedy struck during the early hours of November 26th. Neighbors reported hearing bone-chilling screams in the early morning hours, adding to the horror of the situation.
The person of interest, who is a son of Rivera from a previous relationship, was brought to the home to babysit the night before the murders. Following the incident, the person of interest was taken to the hospital for a psychological evaluation and was reportedly heard muttering, “I did something bad,” while speaking about the alleged crimes.
While no arrest has been made yet, Chief Kenny expressed confidence that with the help of the Bronx District Attorney’s office, an arrest will be made swiftly. The community is reeling from the tragedy as they wait for justice to be served for the slain family.
