HOUSTON — A local woman faces murder charges following a fatal encounter with her boyfriend, stemming from an argument that escalated in a parking lot shortly after the Christmas holiday. Authorities allege that 22-year-old Jayla Brown stabbed 24-year-old Keylan Foreman in the face with a screwdriver during the incident on Dec. 27, 2025.
Prosecutors detailed that the confrontation took place at the intersection of Lockwood Drive and Laura Koppe Road. According to court filings, police were called to a Chevron station, where they discovered Foreman unconscious and bleeding profusely from wounds to his cheek and nose. He was quickly transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, including facial trauma and brain swelling.
Brown initially claimed she observed a disturbance and came upon Foreman injured on the ground. She stated that she attempted to get him to a hospital but stopped to have someone call 911 when her vehicle ran low on gas. However, during a subsequent interview with law enforcement, Brown’s narrative shifted significantly. She reportedly admitted to being embroiled in a dispute with Foreman, who was using crutches at the time due to a previous injury.
According to her later account, the argument escalated after Foreman allegedly struck her, prompting her to use the screwdriver she had been holding to respond. She then claimed to have “blacked out” and was shocked to discover the extent of his injuries. Despite her initial assertions, Brown later acknowledged that she did strike him following the altercation.
Investigators obtained surveillance footage from a nearby store that captured the moments leading up to Foreman’s stab wound. The video appears to show Brown lunging at Foreman and striking him, causing him to fall. Observers of the incident noticed that after the altercation, she was seen moving around the area without visible injuries and returning to her vehicle.
Foreman was unable to provide a statement to law enforcement due to being intubated following the stabbing. As he received care at Memorial Hermann Hospital, doctors documented severe injuries, including bleeding in his brain and a fractured sphenoid bone, serious complications resulting from the alleged attack. Ultimately, Foreman was pronounced dead on Jan. 19, 2026, with the Montgomery County Medical Examiner later classifying his death as a homicide.
The murder charge against Brown was formally accepted by a Harris County assistant district attorney on Jan. 29, leading to the case being filed in the 337th District Court. As of recent reports, Brown remains in custody with a bond set at $150,000. She was scheduled to appear in court again.
