HOUSTON — A shooting incident in northeast Harris County is under investigation as authorities look into potential murder-suicide circumstances after a woman was found dead and a man was hospitalized due to a gunshot wound.
The tragic event unfolded at a residence on Cicada Lane near John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched after receiving reports that a man had barricaded himself in a bedroom with a woman, believed to be his girlfriend.
During the tense situation, several family members, including children, were present in the home. Law enforcement officials managed to evacuate them safely before attempting to make contact with the man inside the locked bedroom.
As the situation escalated, a SWAT team was summoned for assistance and subsequently forced entry into the room. Upon their arrival, they discovered the woman deceased and the man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities confirmed that he was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
Previous incidents at the same address suggest a troubling history. Records indicate that deputies had responded to the residence about a year ago concerning a report involving terroristic threats.
