Judicial Remand for Alleged Fake Cardiologist Linked to Multiple Deaths as Bilaspur Police Launch Investigation

Bilaspur, India — The local police have secured a one-day judicial remand for Dr. Narendra John Camm, who is facing accusations of involvement in multiple patient deaths. The Bilaspur court approved the remand, although authorities initially sought an extension through Monday. During this time, police plan to delve deeper into the allegations against the individual identified as a fake cardiologist.

Justice Krishna Murari Sharma presided over the case, and a special team has been formed by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajnesh Singh to conduct the interrogation. Dr. Camm, also known as Narendra Yadav, was apprehended while serving time in a Madhya Pradesh jail. He is suspected of performing heart surgery on Rajendra Prasad Shukla, a former Assembly Speaker, in 2006, shortly before Shukla’s death.

The former politician, who was the first Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, died at a Bilaspur hospital after undergoing a procedure by Dr. Camm. According to Shukla’s son, Pradeep, his father was placed on a ventilator for 18 days before being declared dead. Pradeep subsequently filed a complaint, alleging that Dr. Camm’s actions contributed to his father’s demise.

Authorities had previously arrested Dr. Camm on charges related to the deaths of seven patients undergoing surgeries at a hospital in Damoh, where he was alleged to have misrepresented his medical qualifications. The police have also opened a case against him and the implicated hospital under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide, as well as cheating and forgery.

An investigation triggered by a complaint to the National Human Rights Commission revealed that Dr. Camm operated on patients while lacking the necessary medical credentials. Officials have noted that evidence indicating his medical qualifications remains unverified, raising concerns among the public about medical malpractice.

In light of the ongoing investigation, police are taking the necessary steps to ensure that justice is served. As they gather further evidence, the case highlights the potential ramifications of unchecked medical practices and the importance of safeguarding patients’ rights.

The Bilaspur police are expected to continue their interrogations, which could unravel more details about Dr. Camm’s operations and practices, as they seek to hold accountable those responsible for any wrongdoing in the healthcare system.
