Justice Sought for Maryland Security Guard Killed in Nightclub Shooting

Hyattsville, Maryland – A family in Hyattsville, Maryland is seeking justice more than a year after a tragic shooting took the life of a 28-year-old man outside a nightclub. Alex Lynch, a security guard at Area Code on Chillum Road, was fatally shot by three suspects, while two others were injured in the incident. The Prince George’s County Police, along with the grieving family, held a press conference urging the public to help identify the suspects involved in the case.

According to Lynch’s brother, Aaron Watkins, the loss of his brother has been incredibly difficult for the family. Lynch, who worked two jobs to provide for his 7-year-old son, was described as the “life of the party” by his loved ones. The family continues to mourn the loss of Lynch, and his absence has left a void in their lives.

A disturbing video released last year shows the perpetrators opening fire from a stolen car, with one shooter wielding a long gun outside the vehicle, while another fired from the backseat. Watkins expressed shock and disbelief at the video, questioning the motive behind the senseless act of violence that claimed his brother’s life. Investigators are actively working to identify the shooters and determine the motive behind the attack.

Prince George’s County Police Lt. Shane Goudreau condemned the brazenness displayed in the video, urging community members to come forward with any information that could help solve the case. Evidence markers and more than 30 fired cartridge casings were found at the scene of the crime, indicating the severity of the incident. While the exact motive remains unclear, authorities believe Lynch was targeted in the attack.

The family of the victim is desperate for answers and justice, questioning why someone would commit such a heinous crime. With emotions running high, they are pleading with the public to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest or conviction in the case. The police department is offering a $25,000 reward for any valuable information that could help solve the case and bring closure to Lynch’s grieving family.
