Moody, Alabama — A 24-year-old man is facing murder charges following the shooting death of a 32-year-old outside a karaoke bar on Saturday night. Kanen Isaac Harper was arrested in connection to the death of Christian White, a man originally from Clay.
White, a father, son, and brother, was remembered fondly by friends and family as a protector and a beloved member of his community. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral costs, emphasizing the deep impact his loss has had on those who knew him.
The incident occurred around 1:05 a.m. at a grassy area adjacent to Velma’s Trussville, which was hosting an “ugly Christmas sweater karaoke party” at the time. Trussville police received reports of gunfire and quickly arrived at the scene, where they found White already fatally wounded.
Emergency personnel pronounced him dead on the scene, and initial reports indicated the shooting may have stemmed from a confrontation between Harper and White. Details surrounding the altercation have not been fully disclosed.
Authorities confirmed that at least one of the individuals involved was at Velma’s earlier in the evening. However, management clarified that the shooting was an isolated event and did not occur on their property.
