LAREDO, TX – A late-night confrontation outside a Laredo home left one man hospitalized with stab wounds and another behind bars on aggravated assault charges, police said.
The incident occurred early Friday morning on the 100 block of St. Pierre Lane, after authorities allege 20-year-old Christian Fonseca arrived at his former girlfriend’s residence and began jumping on the hood of her new boyfriend’s car. The disturbance drew the attention of the boyfriend, who stepped outside to investigate, according to police.
What began as property damage quickly escalated. Officers believe Fonseca attempted to force his way into the home, prompting a heated altercation between the two men near the front entrance. During the ensuing struggle, Fonseca allegedly stabbed the other man with a knife before fleeing the immediate area.
Emergency crews transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening. Law enforcement officers searching the neighborhood located Fonseca several houses away and arrested him without further incident.
Authorities revealed that Fonseca had previously been given a criminal trespass warning related to earlier harassment complaints. Court records show a history of run-ins with the law, including an August arrest on charges of resisting arrest and criminal trespass. He was out on bond at the time of Friday’s stabbing.
Police have not specified whether the earlier complaints and arrests were connected to the same ex-girlfriend involved in this latest incident. The motive behind Fonseca’s actions remains under investigation.
Fonseca now faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. As of Sunday, he was being held in custody without bond as the case moves forward.
The ex-girlfriend remained inside her home during the altercation and was not reported injured. Authorities have not released the name of the stabbing victim.
Additional details from law enforcement are pending as the investigation continues.
