New York — A 52-year-old man was fatally shot in his apartment at the Polo Grounds Towers in Washington Heights, after opening his door to two masked individuals late Saturday night, according to police officials.
The incident occurred around 10:55 p.m. on Frederick Douglass Blvd. near W. 155th St. Authorities say the victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, responded to a knock before admitting the visitors. Shortly after their entry, one of the assailants shot him in the abdomen.
Responding to an urgent 911 call, emergency services quickly transported the man to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As of now, the gunmen remain at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
