Seattle, WA — Tragedy struck South Seattle when a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot, setting off a high-speed police chase that ended with multiple arrests in Everett late Tuesday night.
Responding to emergency calls just after 9 p.m., Seattle Police rushed to the 7400 block of Rockery Drive South where they discovered the young victim. Urgent medical aid was rendered at the scene before he was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
In the frenetic moments following the shooting, police officers initiated a pursuit of the suspect’s vehicle, which fled northward, sparking a high-speed chase mainly along Interstate 5. The chase stretched over several miles, eventually drawing in assistance from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities described how the suspects traveled at dangerous speeds, eventually exiting the interstate at the 128th Street exit in Everett. In a tactical move to stop the suspect vehicle, law enforcement performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT maneuver), effectively bringing the vehicle to a halt near the 900 block of Madison Street.
Immediately following the maneuver, one suspect was apprehended. Despite attempts to flee on foot, two additional suspects were arrested in the surrounding area, further stretching the resources of Everett Police, who spearheaded the containment and arrest operations.
