Hephzibah, GA — A 21-year-old man from Hephzibah is facing murder and child cruelty charges after his 4-month-old son died from injuries that authorities believe may have been caused by shaking. Following the infant’s hospitalization for severe brain injuries, his condition deteriorated, leading to his death after a week of medical efforts.
Daveon Jonquavious Wood, who has been in custody since November 9, was initially arrested on charges related to child cruelty. However, following the death of his son, Aiden Jonquezz Wood, last Wednesday, murder charges were added. Wood had been responsible for his son’s care when the injuries occurred. His arrest grew more complex against a backdrop of prior domestic altercations and legal issues involving his family.
