Man Arrested After Brutal Assault on Lynn Convenience Store Clerk in Shocking Halloween Incident

LYNN, Mass. — A violent incident at a local convenience store has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man charged with multiple offenses, according to police reports. Authorities say the attack occurred on the evening of October 31 at Richdale Convenience Store on Chatham Street.

Police were dispatched to the scene at around 7:21 p.m., responding to reports of a fight. Upon arrival, officers found the store clerk seriously injured and evidence of stolen items scattered throughout the establishment. Surveillance footage revealed a disturbing scene: the assailant leaped over the counter to launch an unprovoked assault on the clerk.

Witnesses expressed shock at the violence. Local resident Mike Dion described the attack as brutal, noting how relentlessly the suspect struck the clerk, who struggled to defend himself.

The store’s owner recounted the suspect’s unusual behavior. Joshua Mora, who had initially purchased snacks, lingered in the store before returning shortly after to buy tobacco. When asked for identification, he reportedly reacted violently, knocking over merchandise and assaulting the clerk.

Dion condemned the attack, reflecting on the community’s shared responsibility to respect one another’s lives. He remarked on the unnecessary nature of such violence, voicing a hope that neighbors would support each other in their everyday struggles.

As a result of the incident, the clerk sustained severe injuries, including a broken leg, a broken nose, and a fractured jaw.

Mora was taken into custody on Friday and faces serious charges, including armed robbery and several counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He also faces charges for malicious destruction of property and armed assault to intimidate resulting in bodily injury.

Mora is scheduled to be arraigned in Lynn District Court on Friday afternoon, where the severity of the charges he faces is likely to be addressed. The community continues to grapple with the impact of this alarming event, with many hoping for a swift resolution and justice for the injured clerk.
