MILWAUKEE — A 54-year-old man faces multiple homicide charges following the shooting deaths of two individuals in a series of events that unfolded on November 5. Kevin Griffin is accused of fatally shooting 39-year-old Terrance Wilder during an eviction attempt at a home in Milwaukee, before allegedly killing 31-year-old A’nya Raymond in a separate incident hours later, leaving her body abandoned in an alley.
During Griffin’s initial court hearing on November 16, prosecutors revealed that he confessed to both murders. He faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. The court records indicate a long criminal history, with Griffin reportedly having been convicted 14 times prior.
The tragic chain of events began at a residence near 12th Street and Capitol Drive, where Griffin allegedly confronted Wilder about an open door, believing he was involved in drug activity. During this confrontation, Griffin reportedly lost control and shot Wilder in his bed. Raymond and her non-verbal son were present at the time; however, their relationship with Wilder remains unclear.
After the shooting, Griffin allegedly forced Raymond and her son into his vehicle. Investigators say that within the car, Raymond attempted to protect herself by brandishing a knife and mace. Despite her efforts, Griffin is accused of shooting her six times in front of her son, who witnessed the horrific act. Following the murder, Griffith is believed to have dumped Raymond’s body in an alley near 41st Street and Hampton Avenue before abandoning her son elsewhere.
Police later found the child wandering alone without shoes, covered in blood, near 9th Street and Concordia Avenue. The boy was reunited with family members that same day and is now being cared for by his grandmother.
Family members have expressed their heartbreak over the losses. Misty Raymond, A’nya Raymond’s mother, spoke emotionally about her daughter’s death, reflecting on the lost milestones, such as college graduation and personal development milestones for her younger son, who is autistic. “She was supposed to bury me,” Misty Raymond lamented, highlighting the tragedy of a mother outliving her child.
Griffin’s bond has been set at $500,000, and the Raymond family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with expenses during this difficult time. The Milwaukee community is left seeking justice as this case unfolds, grappling with the profound violence that has shattered lives.
