HAMPTON, SC — The Moselle Estate in South Carolina, formerly owned by the Murdaugh family, is set to go up for auction with a starting bid of $1,100,000. The auction, scheduled for Feb. 15, will be overseen by J.P. King.
The 21-acre property includes a spacious four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom home spanning over 5,000 square feet. According to the auction listing, the estate offers seclusion, tranquility, and privacy, featuring front and back porches, a family room, balcony, dining room, and a kitchen equipped with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops.
The listing of the property does not make any reference to the notorious crimes that transpired on the grounds. Notably, the estate was the site of the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, as well as the accidental death of the family’s former housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield.
Following the family’s departure from the property, it was initially sold for $3.9 million in 2023. The surviving son, Buster Murdaugh, received a portion of the proceeds from the sale, which was used to settle legal fees and support the victims of Alex Murdaugh’s financial crimes.
Subsequently, the property was listed for sale again in October 2023, this time with a price tag of $1.95 million. Prospective buyers are required to be pre-approved and can only view the home by appointment.
Alex Murdaugh is currently serving a life sentence for the murders of his wife and son, alongside other financial crimes, and has filed an appeal for his conviction.
