Los Angeles – A tumultuous relationship punctuated by accusations of embezzlement, assault, and death threats emerged as central to the investigation following the recent murder of Dr. Hamid Mirshojae. The Woodland Hills physician was fatally shot in what police believe was a carefully orchestrated murder-for-hire plot involving his ex-wife.
Court records depict an acrimonious history between Dr. Mirshojae and Ahang Mirshojae, who ended their marriage in 2010 but continued to engage in hostile confrontations. Allegations ranged from physical assaults to financial crimes, intensifying the scrutiny of their past as detectives uncover motives for the murder.
The unraveling of this complex relationship began to accelerate in 2016, when Dr. Mirshojae accused his ex-wife of embezzling significant amounts of money from his clinic, where she was employed post-divorce. Upon her dismissal, she allegedly retaliated by threatening to ruin the clinic, culminating in a physical altercation where she reportedly assaulted Dr. Mirshojae at the workplace.
On August 23, as he departed from his clinic on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Dr. Mirshojae was unexpectedly shot from behind, marking a violent end to his life. The Los Angeles Police Department swiftly responded, arresting five individuals linked to the planning and execution of his murder.
Among the accused are Sarallah Jawed, 26, of Canoga Park; Ahang Mirshojae, 53, of Calabasas; Shawn Randolph, 46, of Valley Village; Evan Hardman, 41, of Tomball, Texas; and Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40, of Reseda. Detectives identified Hardman as the alleged gunman, who, with Sweeting’s assistance, reportedly fled the crime scene.
The criminal investigation further revealed that Jawed allegedly facilitated not only the murder but also helped Hardman escape the state post-crime. This network of suspects underscores the depth of planning behind what authorities suspect to be a premeditated murder-for-hire scheme.
In a related but earlier incident on May 3, both Hardman and Jawed are suspected in a severe bat attack on Dr. Mirshojae, hinting at a pre-existing propensity for violence directed toward him.
The Los Angeles Police Department emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation. Alan Hamilton, chief of detectives, stated, “This investigation is going to continue until all people involved in this incident are held to account,” signaling a broader scrutiny beyond just the immediate suspects.
As judicial processes unfold, one of the accused, Jawed, has yet to enter a plea, with expectations for his subsequent court appearance shedding more light on this complex case.
