NESPELEM, Wash. — A man is facing serious charges after reportedly confessing to the violent killings of his girlfriend and her teenage son on the Colville Reservation. Court records reveal that Damian Todd Martinez called 911 to admit his actions, although he provided no supporting evidence for his allegations of infidelity against the woman.
In his call on Thursday, Martinez expressed suspicions about his girlfriend cheating on him and claimed responsibility for fatally stabbing her and her 17-year-old son, Anthony Dick. Investigators later ascertained that Martinez was not legally married to the woman but had been in a long-term relationship with her, describing plans for marriage.
When Colville Tribal Police arrived at the residence, they found Martinez covered in blood, alongside the bodies of the two victims. According to reports, the tragic events unfolded with the teenage boy returning home sick from school earlier in the day. Martinez stated that he entered the boy’s bedroom in the afternoon, woke him, and then stabbed him in the throat.
The timeline shifted in the early evening when the girlfriend returned home to find Martinez waiting for her. He confronted her about the alleged affair, which she denied without knowing that her son had already been killed. Martinez described how he approached her on the couch and attacked her multiple times.
There is a daughter from the relationship who was not home at the time, and when asked what he would have done if she had been present, Martinez reportedly expressed uncertainty. He characterized himself as a “father figure” to the children and acknowledged a previous history of assaulting their mother.
Martinez has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The investigation into the incident remains active as authorities seek to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic events.
