Nashville teen threatened to shoot his pregnant girlfriend after she threw him out for kicking and choking her

NASHVILLE, TN – An 18-year-old in Tennessee faces a series of felony charges after authorities say he assaulted his pregnant girlfriend and a family member in separate violent incidents, then threatened further violence before being arrested in a dramatic late-night encounter.

According to the Nashville Police Department, Brandon Grigsby was taken into custody Wednesday night at his mother’s home, following an extensive investigation linking him to two separate assaults that occurred in May and June of this year. Officers say Grigsby had six outstanding warrants, mostly for domestic violence offenses, at the time of his arrest.

The first alleged attack occurred in May, when Grigsby’s pregnant girlfriend reported that he choked and kicked her during an argument. Investigators say he attempted to stab her in the abdomen and fired shots into the air outside her residence after she managed to force him out. Authorities allege that Grigsby then threatened to “shoot up the home,” escalating concerns for the victim’s safety.

Just a month later, police say Grigsby was involved in another violent confrontation, this time with a family member. During a heated dispute, he allegedly threw bleach into the relative’s eyes, causing further alarm. Neither case led to immediate charges at the time, with authorities citing the unavailability of key witnesses as a factor for the delays.

After further investigation, a Davidson County grand jury issued indictments against Grigsby on multiple counts, including two charges each of aggravated assault and domestic assault. He is also accused of harassment and theft in connection with the ongoing investigation.

Detectives located Grigsby on Wednesday night at his mother’s home, where he was accompanied by a 16-year-old. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the pair, the two reportedly fled in a BMW. Police say the vehicle was eventually disabled, leading to the arrests of both occupants without further incident.

During a subsequent search, officers reported discovering a backpack containing approximately 40 grams of marijuana and a pistol on the vehicle’s floorboard. As a result, Grigsby now faces additional charges for felony weapons possession and marijuana possession.

The 16-year-old who was with Grigsby has been charged in juvenile court with felony evading arrest, authorities said.

Court records indicate that the case remains under investigation, with both alleged assaults being treated as part of a larger pattern of domestic violence. Grigsby remains in custody as he awaits further court proceedings on the slew of felony and misdemeanor charges.

No further injuries have been reported in connection with the incidents, police said.
