Lebanon, Maine — A New Hampshire man is facing serious legal repercussions following a stabbing incident that occurred Monday afternoon. Authorities have charged Jeremy Potvin, 35, with attempted murder after he allegedly attacked a 52-year-old victim known to him.
The York County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a disturbance on West Lebanon Road around 2 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the victim had fled the scene in search of medical help after sustaining multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders located him on Carl Broggi Highway, where he was reported to have suffered seven stab wounds to various parts of his body, including his chest and face.
Due to the severity of his injuries, the victim was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland for urgent medical treatment. Authorities stated that his condition remains critical as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Investigators found that the incident originated when Potvin arrived uninvited at the victim’s home and initiated a violent confrontation. The relationship between the two men, as well as the motive behind the attack, is still under investigation.
Police launched a search for Potvin, and he was subsequently apprehended by officers from the Berwick Police Department. He has been charged with criminal attempt murder, and a bail amount of $150,000 cash has been set. Potvin remains in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford.
