COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH – The calm of an early March morning in a quiet Ohio suburb was shattered when a pregnant woman was shot and killed in her sleep, an act prosecutors say was orchestrated by her former partner just hours before she was due to give birth.
India Kinamore, 26, was expecting her child to arrive that day, but instead lost her life and the life of her unborn baby in the bedroom of her Colerain Township home. According to court filings, Kinamore was ambushed while asleep by two men acting on orders from her ex-boyfriend, Kayvon Warren, 30.
Prosecutors allege that Warren solicited help from his cousin, Robert Ervin, 20, and another associate, Lamar Morris Suggs, 22, to carry out the killing. The three men face charges that include aggravated murder, felonious assault, and burglary in connection with the March 4, 2023, incident.
Investigators believe the killing was the culmination of a plot driven by Warren’s desire to avoid fatherhood and mounting financial pressures. Court documents detail that Warren had repeatedly requested Kinamore terminate her pregnancy. When she refused, authorities say, he began conspiring with Ervin and Suggs to end her life before she could deliver the child.
On the day Kinamore was scheduled to have her labor induced, Warren and his accomplices allegedly staged the home intrusion to appear as a burglary. According to prosecutors, the men were in communication through a group chat, where they discussed plans to carry out the attack that evening.
Particularly chilling, prosecutors assert, is evidence that Warren requested bereavement leave from his employer prior to the shooting, suggesting significant premeditation.
Colerain Township police responded to a call at Kinamore’s residence around 4:40 a.m., where officers found the pregnant woman suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Her 6-year-old son, who was home at the time, discovered her injured and telephoned his grandmother for help.
Family members mourned Kinamore’s death, with her mother describing Warren as someone they had trusted, only to have those beliefs shattered by the violence that claimed her daughter’s life.
Warren, Ervin, and Suggs now each stand charged and are awaiting trial in Hamilton County. Suggs is currently incarcerated on separate charges. Prosecutors say they are committed to seeking justice for Kinamore and her unborn child.
This tragedy has left a lasting impact on the Colerain Township community, where neighbors grapple with the loss and the disturbing nature of the crime. Authorities credit swift investigative work with leading to the arrests announced later in August 2023, ending months of uncertainty after Kinamore’s life was cut tragically short.
