ALTOONA, PA – A late-night altercation outside a neighborhood bar in central Pennsylvania turned deadly early Sunday, leaving a beloved family member dead and a community shaken.
James Dunn, 41, died after he was struck during a confrontation that unfolded just after 1 a.m. outside the Kettle Inn in Altoona. According to authorities, the incident began as a dispute involving several family members and quickly escalated into violence.
Dunn had been at the bar with his wife and other relatives when a physical fight reportedly broke out between two women in the group. Witnesses say Dunn and another man tried to break up the scuffle, attempting to restore order amid rising tensions. That’s when Corey Lopez, 34, emerged from the establishment and allegedly joined the fray.
Despite efforts from bystanders to separate those involved, the situation deteriorated further. According to police reports, Lopez confronted Dunn and is accused of delivering a powerful punch that left Dunn unconscious in the middle of the road.
