St. Paul, Minn. — A planned robbery led to the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man in the West Seventh neighborhood last week, according to court documents. The incident occurred on February 2, when David Lee Turner III was found dead in a parked vehicle.
Antavarius Scott Baker, 38, from Minneapolis, faces two counts of second-degree murder, as outlined in charges filed Monday in Ramsey County District Court. Baker is currently in custody in Hennepin County for charges unrelated to this case.
Eithan Armani Green, 29, also from Minneapolis, has been charged with second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm. He allegedly fired the shots that killed Turner. Green’s charges were announced shortly after the incident.
Police discovered Turner slumped in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Durango around 10 p.m., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy later confirmed he sustained eight injuries from gunfire. Officers processed the scene, recovering eight spent cartridges from a 9mm firearm and three from a .40-caliber, alongside nearly three pounds of marijuana.
Baker’s initial statements to the police revealed a relationship with Turner: he and Green had previously bought marijuana from him. According to Baker, both he and Green had communicated with Turner about a recent purchase. He reported that Green entered Turner’s vehicle before he heard multiple gunshots.
After the shooting, Baker transported Green, who had also been shot, to Regions Hospital. While initially maintaining a degree of separation from the events, Baker later acknowledged to investigators that he was aware of the planned robbery. “Yes, I knew it, but I didn’t know he was going to kill him,” he admitted during a follow-up interview.
The investigation highlights the escalating issues surrounding drug-related violence in the area, prompting concerns from community members about safety and crime. Police continue to gather evidence as they seek to understand the complete circumstances of the incident.
