Pregnant Minnesota woman stabbed to death by husband

ST. CLOUD, MN – A man accused of fatally stabbing his pregnant wife in a St. Cloud apartment this week has been ordered held on a multi-million dollar bail amid disturbing details released by police and prosecutors.

Saleebaan Mohamed Abdirisaaq, 26, appeared via video for his bond hearing Friday, where a judge set his bail at $6 million without conditions or $4 million if certain restrictions are met. He faces four counts of second-degree murder following the death of Falus A. Ali, 24, who was 17 weeks pregnant at the time of her killing.

Authorities say the tragic events unfolded late Tuesday night after Abdirisaaq allegedly called 911 and told dispatchers there had been a death at his address and that he wanted officers to come to the scene. When police arrived at the apartment, they found Ali lying in the living room, surrounded by blood and suffering from multiple wounds.

According to the criminal complaint, the responding officers located a bloody, serrated kitchen knife nearby. Medical staff pronounced Ali dead at the hospital after first responders transported her from the scene. An autopsy would later reveal that she had been stabbed 34 times, with injuries to her neck, chest, shoulders, arms, and jaw.

Investigators noted that Abdirisaaq remained at the apartment following his call to police. During further interviews, authorities learned that the couple’s three-year-old child was also present at the time. Officers found the child outside on the patio with Abdirisaaq. The child was taken into care by other relatives following the incident.

Family members later told police that Abdirisaaq had contacted them, admitting he “killed his wife with a knife.” The criminal complaint also detailed evidence of a tumultuous relationship. Court records indicate Abdirisaaq had been previously convicted of violating a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order in February, and he was arrested for making threats against Ali just last month in a nearby county. His release at the time forbade him from contacting the victim.

Law enforcement said the child present referenced Abdirisaaq “punching” Ali and reportedly gestured toward the neck with a closed fist, consistent with injuries documented on the victim. The child has since been placed with family.

Abdirisaaq is being held in jail as he awaits his next court appearance, currently set for October 7. Legal proceedings are expected to focus not only on the alleged killing but also on the reported pattern of domestic violence between Abdirisaaq and Ali.

Authorities have emphasized the seriousness of the charges and severity of the crime in their pursuit of justice for Ali and her unborn child. The investigation remains ongoing, with officials continuing to gather evidence and interview those involved.
