BOSTON — Police have apprehended a suspect linked to a brutal assault on Lansdowne Street last month that left a 22-year-old with serious injuries, including a brain bleed. Brandon Wilson, 27, from Quincy, was taken into custody on October 28 near 449 Sea Street.
Wilson faces charges of aggravated assault in connection with the incident that occurred on September 28. Authorities allege he struck Jack Farrell in the face, rendering him unconscious and unable to defend himself. Farrell had been enjoying a night out with friends following a Red Sox game when the unprovoked attack took place.
Mona Saltalamacchia, Farrell’s mother, described the traumatic event, explaining that her son was caught off guard. “He backed up a couple of steps, drew his arm back, and then punched him,” she recounted. The suddenness of the attack left Farrell with critical injuries, including swelling in the brain that ultimately required surgical intervention.
Medical professionals were forced to perform a procedure to remove a portion of Farrell’s skull in order to alleviate the pressure caused by the brain bleed. Initially hospitalized with severe symptoms, he has since made progress in his recovery at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
Farrell’s mother has been by his side throughout this harrowing experience, expressing relief at his current state while also highlighting the emotional toll it has taken on their family. “He had a breathing tube during his initial treatment, and we were anxious to see if the medications would manage the swelling,” she said.
Wilson is set to appear for his arraignment in Roxbury District Court, where further legal proceedings will unfold. This incident has sparked outrage in the community, raising discussions about safety and violence in public spaces.
