RACINE, Wis. — A 28-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a violent baseball bat attack on a pregnant woman following a confrontation at work. Surveillance footage captured the incident earlier this month, showing the victim being pursued as she attempted to leave her workplace.
Authorities reported that the victim sustained multiple injuries, including facial cuts and bruising to her abdomen. Marielle Barrios now faces charges of armed robbery with force, substantial battery, and attempted aggravated battery against an unborn child due to the nature of the attack.
According to the criminal complaint, the pregnant woman informed police that she is expecting a child fathered by Barrios’ boyfriend. During the assault, the victim alleged that Barrios made alarming statements, including urging violence against the unborn child.
